Back to eBay!

Sittin' on the Dock of eBay!

I need to sell some art. The current way they run Art Shows it too rough for the Elderly or Disabled. You pack up all the items and the walls, lights, furniture for displays. Load the car, unload the car, set up the walls, and lights and popup tent if required. All you get is a 10x10 foot space. If it's a two day show you need to remove anything you don't want stolen and set up again on day 2. So, lets give eBay a try.

I also posted some classic Fedora hats that I have collected. Since I have become a Hatter my friends sometimes gift me a cute little hat even if it's not my size. They know I will find someone that loves classic hats.

I will also be down sizing and selling things to help my income. I have two Pet Carriers right now, and some Classic Fedoras.

Classic Fedora
What's funny about my hat making obsession is, I learned my great grandpa Ben would clean and re-block hats when they lived in Seattle. I learned I had a cousin that was a Rock Star and my Grandparents and Mom were into fabrics and sewing, she used to make the boys on the block baggy swimsuits. Grandparents hat a Bias Binding Business and they made straps for Bikinis and gowns. I would spend time in the shop with them. Sometimes loading the machines or stacking fabric so Grandpa could cut patters out of large stacks of fabric. My first sewing machine was an old one I found in their shop. It was just a decoration because it is an antique.

The flowers have to do about appreciation for such beauty. I am always impressed how good retail flowers look. I also like planting and propagating plants and flowers. I will plant different stuff so I have new flowers to take photos of bees and butterflies.

Gypsy Swing Guitar This is made because of one of my heroes.

Django Reinhardt born as Jean Reinhardt (23 January 1910 – 16 May 1953). He was a real Gypsy that lived in a wooden Caravan. It caught fire and he went into to try and save his family. His fretting hand got burnt and fused some of his fingers together. He accepted the changes to his hand and he still found ways to play chords by finding fingerings he could do. His Guitar Playing Hobby gave him the Joy of Missing Out and he accepted his limitations. It also didn't matter who liked it, he played for the joy.
One of my favorite stories about him was, he would show up to gigs with strings missing on his guitar. Finally the Band Director would hand him money and tell him to get the strings. Django figured sending money home to the family was more important, he didn't need all the extra strings to play well, his family needed the money to eat and pay bills.

Expecting the Gold Metal and not Accepting you didn't get it, makes you feel like you wasted time, and emotionally stressed.

WOCA Art Show @ Radiant Beer Co

WOCA Sept '23
09/09/2023 @ 6pm

NEW Location!
Radiant Beer Co

We are all pretty excited about the new location. I have been working on some new art based on Guitars, Catalina Island and Cars! Plus I will have the Backyard Pets including caterpillars, butterflies, birds, bees and occasional lizard.

Backyard Pets is all about Appreciation: After surviving so many surgeries, including a 14 hour Craniotomy, I learned I needed to work on my Appreciation. We run around focused on commercial things many people pay lots of money just to trap a bird in a cage, others find ways to enjoy the birds living in the wild, sometimes the birds will come in the house and let the people hold them, yet they live wild a free. So I started planting and putting up bird feeders to attract the wild birds and bees, I learned Macro and Closeup Photography.

Butterflies and Dragonflies are about Transformation or Change: Many people thing having surgery is like getting your car fixed. Part breaks or dent happens you fix it, usually there's not too much pain and suffering once its been fixed. The body requires RECOVERY, and Surgery has SIDE EFFECTS, SCARS, EDEMA, NEUROPATHY, AMPUTATION... Things can require a lifetime of Emotional Acceptance, learning new skills, new meds to manage side effects and so on. The caterpillar dies and becomes a Butterfly, the Dragonfly a tiny tadpole-like prolarva emerges from the egg and later becomes the dragonfly. The way they fly seems impossible like the hummingbird.  "Dragonflies hunt other flying insects, so agility is key. To aid in this, dragonflies can move and rotate each of their four wings independently. Thanks to this unique ability, these insects can fly backwards, up and down. They can turn on a dime and can hover, all contributing to their great flying abilities.

Change and Transformation doesn't have to be a BAD thing, it only needs to be something to Accept!

More Birds and Bugs

Cars are only about the love for Cars: I have been attending local Car Shows to capture images. I like the drivers much more than the over done trailer queens, or over built motors.

Catalina Island, Avalon California is a place we have enjoyed since my Mom was a Baby. Moms side of the family are Sephardic and came from a small island in the Mediterranean called Rhodes. It contained the the 8th Wonder of the Ancient World, The Colossus of Rhodes. After they came to America they learned about Catalina and they have made  it their summer place to vacation. Can't wait to visit Rhodes.

hiding in public

February Art Events 2019

I had some new stuff printed to in preparation for 2019. I did have much in the way of Glicee Prints on Canvas, so I ordered 4 @ 16x20". I didn't have any Acrylic Prints so I ordered 2 @ 16x20". For some reason, anything smaller than that on just doesn't seem like art to me. Because the first art crawl is in the Comic Book Hideout ( www.ComicBookHideout.com ), I decided to get some prints that would fit in with their shop. If you have some time please stop in Atelier Mela, the Hat Shop is not a part of the Art Walk but they are selling some of my caps there (see below). If you like hats you need to Check It Out! 109 Commonwealth, Fullerton www.AtelierMela.net , I will be brining a few caps to my art shows (see below).
